Dated 1992, this drawing celebrates my own pregnancy after years of trying to get pregnant. I was already 38 and facing the prospect of never giving birth so when it happened, I celebrated wildly with a creative spurt. The drawing is very personal so I added the mother and child from a century earlier to expand my joy to all parents. Now that I am of an age to be attracted to the prospect of grandchildren, I take delight in babies and toddlers, both because they are great fun and because they transport me to that happy time in my own life when my children were young.
