Covid Art 50: Great Aunt, Great Uncle

Another VERY early experiment with these new six inch silicon wafers, this one from 1997. I etched on it in two sets of squiggles, meant to be reminiscent of DNA research which was very much in the new at that time. When this was first exhibited, viewers didn’t at first see the wafer. Sometimes it had to be pointed out to them because their eyes were so used to focusing on facial features. They had no paradigm for these engineering designs on top of old people. 23 years ago, now, and so much has changed.
