Covid Art 28: Fathers and Daughters


I love this photo. I’ve stared at it for years. It says something very particular about the culture of Switzerland that on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, when the men got together at a cafe, their daughters and their dolls were also included. Have you seen a similar photograph? Usually men do their man-cave stuff but this speaks of love and inclusiveness and shared responsibilities. This is one of many photos from my friend Heidi’s albums – my favorite, perhaps. The letter above alludes to divorce, lawyers, and family trauma—such an opposite to the love visceral below.
